Turkish Ashuhura Dessert

A day in Advance:
Soak a glass of wheat overnight.

1 cup wheat soaked in water overnight
1 cup sugar
1 tbs cinnamon
1 tsp sesame seeds
A handful of raisins
grated orange peel (from 1 orange)
3 tbs cornstarch
Half a glass of water (*used to dilute the cornstarch)
Chopped nuts, *you may also use pomegranate seeds


Mix cornstarch with half a glass of water until you receive a thick mixture with no lumps- set aside.

Mix the cinnamon with the sesame seeds and set aside.

Cook the wheat with 2.5 glasses of water on a medium heat until soft.
* the wheat should be soft and moist
Lower the heat and add a cup of sugar, the cinnamon and sesame mix we previously set aside, raisins, orange zest and the diluted cornstarch. Stir for 2-3 minutes
* Do not let the wheat dry
* refrigerate, before serving, add chopped nuts and pomegranate seeds.
